My 1995 F-150 automatic 131k miles is shuddering only when accelerating. It's really bad from 20mph to 40. If I take my foot off the gas it's fine. Any Ideas? Driveshaft?
Glad you got it worked out....I guess I was wrong! DOH! Anyways, keep those things greased. I grease them as well as my front end every time I change my oil.
I've got a similiar problem with my '94 F150 ext cab. I feel a vibration in the drivetrain between 20-50 mph. I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what you replaced (u-joints, retainer clips, needle bearings, any other bearings). Also, how long did you drive your truck with the vibration problem? I've put about 100 miles on mine since I first noticed the problem and am worried that it might have damaged other bearings seals. Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
dfox, it was noticably shuddering for about 3 months. Last year I started hearing a creaking noise similure to a tire rubbing on something each revolution. I finally trcked the noise to the drive shaft. So the u joint bearings must have been bad for about 5 months.I think on my truck the shudder was gradually getting worse because I remember even last year, "something didn't feel right". I wasn't able to do the work myself, but they changed the u-joints, retainer clips, needle bearings.
