Just make sure you have a socket set, and a universal for the sockets. It'll take you 4 or 5 hours. If you pull the fuse, it will just disable the 4wd system, and there won't be any ill effects of driving it like that. There was a thread on here a while back about the fuse pulling. I tried it, and love it. Its nice to be able to leave it in 2wd instead of having the truck always decide. The problem with your 4wd could be a speed sensor somewhere, but I am not really sure.
Yes, they are in fact autolite double plat. I changed mine at 70k and they looked like they should of been changed 20k earlier. Be sure to use only autolite double platnium plugs. Other wise it will run like crap after a while. Bosch or any others do not work. You can do a search on this and plug replacement. There has been a lot of talk about this topic.
Well I now know how I'll be spending my weekend...
I am in KS and it is just starting to get warm and sunny.. So I have spent the last three days detailing the exterior and putting some wax on it. Tried the Zimol for the first time it's great.. Really nice mirror finish.. There is just too many sqft. on this thing to wax.. I had to look pretty funny this evening on a ladder waxing the roof but it had to be done.. During the winters here it's hard to do more than run it through a brushless car wash.
This weekend I'll spend a day or so detailing the interior and conditioning the ole leather...
Then I will look into under taking the spark plug change. I guess I'll go to ford to get the factory plugs..
If it's a 4 or 5 hour job I guess it's not like the good old days..
Thanks again for the advice, I will take any more you might have regarding the plug change. Let me know if there are any things I need to watch out for.

Why not? I have a 6500 pound Navi that is as fast as a Mustang and hauls the boat, groceries, family, etc, etc.
Originally posted by mistercmk Correct, if you pull the fuse, there won't be any bad things that happen. You just won't have 4wd while the fuse is out.
You've gotta remember, you lose your shift-on-the-fly capability. Is is worth it? To me it's not. When the selector is in A4wd you're really in 2wd by default. If the system is functioning properly you should not have any reason to pull the fuse. Some of the guys around here have installed a toggle to effectively do the same thing as removing the fuse. To me this is a much better solution because you must merely flip the toggle and you're back in A4wd and can then shift-on-the-fly again.

Seconded!
Putting a toggle in line is always the best solution!
Interesting idea about the toggle, kind of interesting that there is that much discussion out on this site about disabeling the A4wd.
Mine seems to be problematic, if I drive around town for an hour or so it starts engaging and disengaging for no reason. Fords tech bulletins indicate it's a common problem due to poor shift motors. But they first say check the tire size/pressure by measuring them. If the tire size is off by more than 1/4 inch that will cause the computer to confuse that with tire slip and that there is no fix. I however have found another tech bulletin that says the dealer can flash the computer and reset the codes and the problem will go away.. Can't find a dealer who will do that, they all claim I need a variety of new parts...
Again seems like there are many of this boards members who have had similar problems and I can't find a single fix. I have found my tires front to rear are off in size do to wear but as long as I keep the tire pressure just right the problem does not surface...
Now having said all that..... This would be my reason for turning off the A4WD and a toggle seams like a good idea but a pain in the A$#..... I guess once I buy those Bridgestone Revo's I will just have to rotate them ever 1k or so...
