Cam upgrade?

What do you mean by modifying the whole engine?
Yes, you can upgrade the cam. Most common to upgrade to is a FMS E303. Most are doing it with a 1.62 or 1.7 roller rocker combo. I've got an E303 and 1.7's in the garage now, just have to wait until I have a couple of days off to get this done.

Be ready to spend about 2 days...
If you do not remove the engine from the X, you have to remove the entire front clip - grille, radiator, fan, bumper, etc. Then break down the upper/lower intake, valve covers, timing cover, etc. It is a pretty lengthy porcess. You don't go all the way to a bare block, but you will get sort of close...
I've left out a lot of steps, but can help further if you need....

Guess I should have said this is to do the cam and the roller/rockers. I would not do a cam only and leave the factory roller/rockers in. Replacing the cam in an Epxlorer 302 is bascially no different than any other 302, just have less space to do it in...
