Has anyone on here tried the new 3 stage SuperChips tuner? If so, how does the third stage compare to say the new 6.0 or the Duramax? I don't even have a Powerstroke yet, I just got a V-10 recently and love it but I do a lot of driving and I figured the long life and better fuel economy of the diesel would make a better primary truck for me. So, sometime around the summer I am thinking about getting a 00-02 Crew Cab Powerstroke and keeping the V-10 in the garage more. I rarely do any towing and it is never anything that would burden any Super Duty, so performance is one of my priorities and I was just wondering what I could expect to see in the 7.3 with the 3 stage tuner.
I have a 2001 7.3L with the Superships 1705, I usually don't run the highest program but when I do I personally feel it has just about has much power as the new 6.0L. I have test driven a new 6.0L too so I do now how it feels. I don't know what you plan on doing with your truck but many people how get a high HP programmer or chip and drive the hell of the truck usually have tranny problems. Something to think about.
I probably wouldn't run mine on the highest setting very much either, but it is kind of like a gun in the nightstand...comforting to know it is there if you need it. Going just by the numbers and Superchips claim, shouldn't it have a bit more punch than the 6.0 though? Thanks for the reply.
yea - um - no. From what I heard the superchips tuner on the highest setting actually only dyno's about 70 or 80hp gain. But really - I had one and I loved it!! I ran it on the middle setting most of the time. The only reason I got rid of it was I was getting tired of waiting 10 minutes to change the tune - went with a flip chip. I didn't have any problems with mine though and I would definitly reccomend one.
My truck has some problems and Ford WILL NOT warranty the CPM. It was $528 to replace it. I have a Supper Chips Programer. I am going to complain to them and see what happens....Richard
I run the 1705 on mine and raced a friend with a bonestock 6.0 and smoked him thats with the programmer on the 2nd setting. I had mine dynoed and the hp went up 92 on the 3rd setting that was before the exaust.
