when i removed my bed i found a tag with a bunch of numbers on it.it is kind of like the one on my door jam. any one know what all these numbers mean??? 1979 f 150 4x4 straight 6
It means that your box was originaly on a F 150 that is four wheel drive and came with the 300 inline 6. If your truck is different, the boxes may have been swaped.
my bed tag was on the underside of the bed...right behind the cab..but it fell off when i got greedy and tried to straighten it out and read it..so now it resides in the glovebox...

Those tags were installed at various places on the 73-9s. Most, I think, were screwed to the firewall behind the air cleaner. they usually have the vin, paint, axle and trans codes along with other numbers/letters sometimes. Sometimes seems like they use some different coding on these tags versus the regular door tag.
