428 police interceptor engine??

Scroob has just informed me that i may have a 428 engine. The heads are C8AE-F, but not certain on that last number. I haven't been able to find a casting # on the block. Do I have to check the crank to know for sure? Is there any other way to tell the id of the motor?

checking the bore/stroke is about the only way to tell the difference.

If there's no casting #'s on the block, I'll bet it's a 390. I've got two of these, both cast in 1968.
