Transmission

I just was wondering if any one had ever changed from an automatic to a standard transmission before? Is there any problems with doing this and also what bell housings fit? My bronco has the 5.8L and a c-6. I want to put a 5 speed i found in it. Thanks for any information.

All depends on what the donor tranny is from, and what it is going into. What year is your truck?

Sorry I have a 1989 Bronco and the donor is I think a 1989 also but it has a 302. does anyone know if the bell housings are the same?

They should be the same but the only thing I can remember that you will need to get different is the flex plate. Otherwise it should bolt up.

bellhousing are the same bolt pattern. DW

You may need to swap the driveshafts. You will need the trans tunnel pan and the flywheel/clutch setup from the donor. Also swap steering columns and instrument panel to make it look right, like it was made at the factory. Stuff you don`t have to do but could. Don`t know if the transfer case input shafts are the same. May need to swap them (transfer cases) too. Good luck.
