Hey Florida folks (I'm from PLant City, but am in the Army)
Seems the Army decided to send me over to Germany again. They told me last week I have 77 days to sell the house , store or sell my trucks and be in Germany on 15 May.
So, I have given my 69 F100 4x4 away... yes I said GAVE it away.
One of my former soldiers is returning from a year in Iraq on the 20th of March. He will take the truck and continue the work. Plus I figured after a year over there, he will need something to keep his mind busy and to assist with the re-integration to society. Some of you may know what that is all about. Living fo a year out of a ruck sack and duffle bag can dull one's social etiquette.
We are in Ft. Polk, Louisiana and he is from Natchez, Mississippi, so only 2 hours from home. I am 1 solid, non-stop 15 hour drive from Plant City.
I don't mind Germany, been there done that, Belgium too, just the short notice I don't like. Have to sell the house and such. Plus I retire in 3 ands a half years, which menas I will probably retire in Germany now, since it is a three year tour.
Oh well. Such is the life of a soldier. I'll be in Plant City on 1 May for about 10 days.

I wish you all the luck on your move and tour of duty. Hopefully you'll be able to drop in from Germany now & then and let us know how things are going.
I think that's real nice of you to give your friend your project truck. I'm sure he'll take good care of it. He may even give you a ride in it once you return to the states.
I'll try. Hey, I was going through my NASCAR collection the other day and came across a RACING CHAMPIONS 1965 F100 longbed I bought a few years ago. It is 1:64th scale and painted yellow. Still in the plastic. If you want it, send me your address and I'll mail it to you ASAP. I know yours is a 66, but I don't think you come across these truck toys very often...maybe the 40 and 50 models, but not alot of 60's. Let me know and I'll send it out quick. Don't cost but a couple bucks, so no worries on that.
SFC Davis,
Enjoy Germany and let me say thanks for serving to protect and defend my freedoms. Am I the only person who thinks it might be time to pull out of Germany and let them foot the total cost of defense themselves? No offense to Jens...how is it going, remember we spoke about Schleswig-Holstein last summer? Wie ghets?

Hey Michael,
(Mir geht's gut) I'm fine, thank you.
Sure, I remember you. You gave me some good information 'bout Florida.
Hope you are fine too.
Nice to read something from you again.
Update... three days before my family and I were to leave Ft. Polk, Louisiana, the Army canceled my orders to Heidelberg, Germnay. So, we're going to be here awhile longer.
GKTBAY- I didn't forget about the truck... I had to fly out to Georgia and was gone for a spell, then prepping to go to Germany...now all that's over, I'll throw it in the mail.
Sorry for the delay.
Steve
