need help
I have a 1984 Bronco I6 that has some issues. When I bought it the guy had destroyed the wiring harness and ignition system. I replaced the harness, new TFI IV distributor, box under the dash, alt, starter, and exhaust manifold. The vehicle starts fine and will run up to 1500 rpm and then it starts to backfire through the carb and exhaust. Once it reaches a certain temp it runs fine until it is shut off, even for a minute, and then you start the process all over. I have checked the intake/exhaust for air leaks, removed the EGR system, checked the butterfly valve in the exhaust and have found nothing. Also replaced the ignition module and rechecked ignition system. I have also run the vehicle with no exhaust in case there was a clogged converter, no change. Compression check has all cylinders within 5psi.
Went to the boneyard and pulled the ignition system off a 78 to try to fix the problem. Replaced the coil, pick up coil, and brain box (twice) and dropped it in. Vehicle will start but will not pull at all and still backfires through the carb/exhaust. This one will not clear up once it reaches operating temp.
I have to go to California for two weeks and when I return I have a Offy and set of headers to put on.
Any ideas????

On my truck the thing would start cold and run like *** and when it was hot it would not restart cause the timing was so far advanced cause i failed to follow the instructions when i changed the ingition module.
Also Check the Fuel Filter on the rail it could be clogged.
