Quick question about cruise control

I have a 1999 5.4L exp xlt and I have controls for the cruise control on the steering wheel. It works fine but when I turn it on i see no light indicating it is on but it does all work ok. is there suppose to be a light in the dash for cruise on or not? My other cars have it just something that makes me go hmmm...
Also I plan on driving cross country in a week or so. Anything I should know about the exp on super long trips? Thanks...

No light. I believe that newer Expys have one, however.

also 2001 EB would have them. Check the manual, first chapter on the dash lights and controls will tell you.

My 03 EB has a light that comes on when the cruise control is engaged and holding the set speed. It doesn't come on when the cruise control is on. Just when it is engaged and actively holding.

My 94 Ranger had no indication at all.

2000 expy and 2003 expy work the same.

If you just hit the on switch, no light, you have to engage the system with the set button, then the light goes on.

Hit the break to disengage and the light goes off, the system is still on though so if you hit resume or set to reingage, light goes on.

That's my experience.
