I just purchased a 1972 Mercury Comet GT (factory 302 car)
Car is complete minus carpet and the seats. (was going to be a drag car)
I have 2 seats to put in it, and can order carpet im sure
Got it for 300 bucks minus motor/tranny
It has traction bars already on it, 4.86 gears, driveshaft for a V8/C4 combo... and everything in the car works.
Im going to put a 302 back in it, or my windsor and a C4 and race the crap out of it.
Bracket race it on sundays, and drive it around town occasionally to show it off.
Very nice car, straight as a pin, no bondo.... nice shiny paint.
and everything is there body wise.
Neat car , I had a Comet with the 302 (non Grabber). Made for a neat peppy car and fun to drive. Sounds like a bargain ,a good start for a great car. Good luck and lots of good times
Good car
You should be able to have some fun with that. V8, small car, always A good combo. Mine are AMXs, a 68 and a 69, both are 390 v8 4sp cars, and alot of fun.
Steve
Yes, they look like a maverick, and yes 72 was the last year for the small bumpers (which Im lucky)
I like those AMX cars also... mainly cuz they run a 390 which is what I run in my truck (I know different brand but i like that number)
For 300 bucks I got a steal on it... straightest old car Ive seen in a long time, factory v8 car so I dont have to get motor stands to put in a V8 in a 6 cylinder car
