my 94 explorer melted all 6 plugs 3 years ago, don't know why. i changed all the injectors and it ran fine for 3 years. again it is melting all 6 plugs, don't know what to do.everyone i talk to has never heard of melting down all 6 plugs .even the plug insulaters are destroyed.
about 40,000,however 3 years ago plugs lasted less than 1oo miles on the e-way with this problem.check engine light comes on after only afew miles.super star computer points to egr valve.is this possible?
What code was puled? If the EGR isnt opening the combustion chamber will run hot & it will probably ping when you stomp on it. Is it doing that?
Are the plug electrodes white & blistered?
plugs are destroyed, whats left is mostly black.codes kicked out are as follows; 181-fuel rich limit-rt. side,186 -injector pulse width high,189-fuel rich limit-left side,332-egr valve not opening
186 can also be "MAF voltage lower than expected". Search this site for how to clean the MAF or go here www.glue.umd.edu/~singletn/exp.html The MAF would probably also explain the 181. Could'nt hurt to run it for a minute, shut it off & remove the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator. It should be dry.
I changed the egr exhaust tube(had a hole in it)but the check engine light still came on after 2 or 3 miles. After driving for a few days the check engine light does not come on now.The computer memory probaly reset itself, since I did not clear all the codes.Maybe it's fixed.Time will tell.I thank everyone for thier input.
