spline count please front HP D44
Any one know the spline count for a stock 78 ford crew cab HP D44 leaf spring set up with 5X5.5 bolt pattern?
I am going to get one from a bone yard tuesday. What rear came in that truck also.

That truck has (as do all hp D44's) 30 spline inner shafts and 19 spline outers. That truck should also have a 9" rear with 31 spline axles and they both most likely have 3.50 gears in them(thought they could be different) Look for a tag under one of the bolts on the front or rear housings, it will have the gear ratio from the factory on it. It is also is most likely a super cab, not a crew cab(4 doors), I don't believe there ever were 4 door F-150's.

thanks it does have 30 spline. And it is a super cab. I belive you are correct I have never seen a '70ish 4 door 150 either.
I ordered a complete rebuild/install kit, ujoints, 4.56 gears and ball joint for $385. Was that a good deal?
