fuel probs
just got the motor in my 85 but i have a problem. after driving a short distance (like accross town) the truck will run awesome, but if i stop at a red light too long or pull into a convienience store for a soda i will jump in the truck and pull away and the truck will fall on it's face like it is running out of fuel. sometimes it happens as soon as i leave the light sometimes it will take a block or so before it dies. i can pull over and let the truck cool a bit and it will fire up and run like nothing happened. it has never done it going down the road or while at idle, only when i try to accelerate after the stop. i havn't had a chance to really look things over since it always happens along the side of the road. I am running an electric (pulse type) fuel pump with filters on the inlet an outlet, a dead head (dial type) fuel pressure regulator and an edelbrock 600 cfm elec choke carb the was on the truck before the rebuild and it ran fine. The fuel line is close to the heater hose on the top of the manifold and i plan on re routing it asap. the fuel pump is mounted on the fender about 1/2" above the frame and is about 5" away from the exhaust manifold. i am not sure what is causing my problem but i think it is fuel/heat related. I have a holley "blue" electric fuel pump that i plan on installing and locating elsewhere under the cab. Does anyone have any thoughts, maybe something i havn't checked? any help would be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance
