P window P door locks

Hi, I just bought power windows and door locks.... Does anyone else have these? anyway... I installed them and the motors are basically too weak to do anything with the windows and door locks... for the windows... the passenger one doesnt even do anything even when not hooked up to window.. I checked everything like 5 times and the instructions and seems to be hooked up right... driver side only rolls window down like half way until the motor is too weak to do anything else... for the power door locks, the locks move a little bit but the actuator isnt strong enough to pop the lock the first try i have to hit it like 10 times till it finally locks or unlocks it... I tried to lubricate everything so it would go smoother... Is there anyother way to make it so that it may make it easier for the motors, or are they just trash and do i need to buy from someone else?? I saw the post about a-1.. im going to call them, hopefully they are open.

Please USE the EDIT:

oh by the way... the power window kit just hooks up to the window roller downer part, the cank?

Let me suggest there are kits, such as JCW sells, then there are kits from places such as www.autoloc.com which are superior to everything else.

If you bought a kit that uses any of the old window regulator, including the crank handle part, you bought an inferior kit that will not last. Or as you found out, might not work out of the box.

The other thing is the most common failure part in the manual windows, the little pot metal/cast gear with six teeth, about 1/2 an inch wide inside the regulator box attached to the cam, if not worn out, will quickly wear out when used with those window kits that attach to the post that spins it.

When you roll it down by hand, very little stress is put on it and fairly slowly. You attach a motor to it and spin it, you quickly grind it away as it spins around UNDER load and it gets eaten away against the much harder metal of the regulator body (big steel thing with gear teeth).

If you are going to go electric windows, then buy a quality kit that comes with its own regulator attached to its own motor designed just for that particular model. The only thing from the factory door you should be using is the roller channel the glass is attached to.

That being said, if the weatherstrip the glass slides against is bad, then if will give a power window motor the fits. You need to replace the rubber/felt strips. This site, www.motorhaven.com sells complete kits for about $80.00.

A quality kit will have a relay system, directly hooked to the battery, not fed from the fuse block with a 12v tap through a switch.

In the high quality kits, the switch just trips the relay with 12v, but, the power comes directly from the battery through the relay.

Maybe you have a weak battery? Does it test 12.6 at the door?

You need a very strong lock actuator for Ford truck doors too. One, because of the design, two because of the looseness, three because of the weight and tension on the rod from the lock/latch. One that weighs 4oz with plastic gears or little magnets just is not going to cut it on your door . When it pops up, you want to think "if my arm was there, I would have a bruise or hole".
