Howsumever Sparky says the starting load on a 6V starter is up to 700A.
Granted that 00 isnt much of a step above 0, consider also the diminishing cranking amps from the battery as the temperature goes down.
Something else to consider when working with the cables is that all the connections must be clean. If you don't have a good connection the power isn't going to flow either. The old Sedanette was awful. I had to take every junction apart and sand every surface to get the current to flow.

Sparky
Hold still while I lend you some more wisdom. (You never thanked me for the last helping by the way)
A momentary 700A load maybe. Like when it's 40 below, the choke is stuck open and a worn out starter. Give it enough time, and 700 amps will melt a fence post in half. If you're suggesting one of your 50 year old oil blowin flatties pulls 700 cranking amps at all times, we'll be needing some proof out here in Iowa.
No arguing a 6 VDC starter pulls more than 12 VDC. But as you see from your link, you'd need 3 trips with 00 for 700 amps continuous. You know that isn't the real world case.
