so im sitting here watching "full metal jacket" and thinking back to when i have worked with some of you marine grunts. i have been aroud the block, a few times (usaf special forces) and i got to say when something has to be done, give me a well disiplined well trained force, and make at least half of them you leatherneck s.o.b.s. ERR-RAH!!!
if you guys wanna hear a heartwarming marine story, go to www.ehowa.com it should still be the top story on the board. remember though, its not a website for kids.
Originally posted by Vanhecht just for the record, its more of an OOHRAH than a ERR RAH, but the sentiment is appreciated none the less
ya know i had alwasy thought ooh-rah than i saw a few postes here that said err-rah, so i tried to listen the gunny on mail call and it sounded like err, then i was thinking i had it wrong all these years, but i guess i was right in the first place. i posted it as ooh-rah on her a while ago and that is where i started seeing it differant...ok enough about that
ok you devil dogs here is a quick question(know yourself know your history):
what are the halls of montazuma:
what is the importace of the shores of tripoli:
got some of ya didnt i...if you dont know, look it up, its important
The "halls of Montezuma" refer to the 1847 occupation of Mexico City and the Castle of Chapultepec, otherwise known as the "Halls of Montezuma."
The "shores of Tripoli," refer to the war with Tripoli, Marines captured the Derne fortress and hoisted the American flag overseas for the first time in history.
anybody remember the 2nd verse of the marine hymn? I'm ashamed to say i don't. on the ooh-rah thing, if it's done right it kind of sounds like a cross between someone hurling and a big dog barking ? i could never do it like the DI's
