Great...now what?
Last weekend I went to O'Reilly Auto parts and borrowed there scanner to pull the codes (AGAIN) for my 96 Ranger 3.0. The CEL came on one day when coming home from fishing (this after I had in the dealer to replace the camshaft synchronizer&sensor). Anyhow, upon hooking up the scanner...and doing the KOEO test, the scanner clearly stated "CEL is OFF" (which it wasn't), and it proceeded to scan. Upon completion the scanner found no codes. But miraculously the CEL was off. Driving home from the parts store (less than 3 miles) the CEL came on again. I went back....de ja vu. Same thing happened. Any ideas? Should I try a different brand of scanner? The one at O'Reilly I had to use the generic hookup, their Ford hookup wasn't compatible w/my outlet. Thanks in advance

That IS strange, if you have an Autozone near you, see if they wll pull the codes. Or just buy a scanner. Check out www.actron.com & click on sunpro
