I have a 79 ford f-150 and I plan to put 4" of lift and new wheels and tires. I'm going to go with 35x12.50. The thing with the wheels is that I want them to stick out to really sling mud. Iwas wondering what kind of backspacing and/or offset. I would like to stick with 15's and I need them to clear a set of fender-well hedders. Any help is appreciated
In MT we don't have inspections. It is just an evil I've heard tell about.
79pos> my brother got American Racing wheels, you could get just about any spacing you'd ever want. he accidentally set 'em in too narrow we couldn't use chains.

I wish Washington was so lax about things like this. We don't have an "inspection" so to speak but can be pulled over at any time if a State Patrol sees something that doesn't look legal. Then it's a big ol' ticket and you have a fixed time frame to change it. Sucks.
15x10 with a 3" will put them out really far if thats what you are looking for, and the 3.75 will put them out kinda far, if you want them out far, go with a 3"BS. what kinda tires you running?
I think I'm going to go with the dick cepek F-C ll. I figure they will offer a quiter ride on the highway. I'll spend more on the highway than mud. What wheels offer 3"bs.
No, I was asking for some advice because I don't know a whole lot about wheels and backspacing. I've found that people in these forums have a lot of "good" advice to offer.
Well.....a less sarcastic answer requires some more information on your part.....like what tires and rims are you running now? Backspacing isnt really a difficult concept. Simply lay the rim face down on the ground, place a flat surface on the top of the rim (what would be the innermost part when mounted) and measure from the flat surface to the wheel mounting surface. The more backspacing, the less your tires stick out and vice versa. If you currently run a 10.5" wide tire on a rim with 5" of backspacing and do not rub any of your undercarriage, then it is logical that if you want to run a 12.5" wide tire that you will need 1" less backspacing (assuming a rim with the same offset). However, there are other alternatives....like wheel spacers ( www.spidertrax.com ) and adjusting your steering stops (but you loose turning radius).
