i want to give my bronco a good tune up since i dont know when the last one was but i would like to ask some questions what all should i replace in the tune up i want new spark plugs but can you's give me your advice as to what name brands do you's like
spark plugs dont need to be fancy. get some autolites or some prefer champion plugs but stay with the basic ones. they will try and sell you some platnums which are spendy and wont give any hp or tq improvments. replace the cap, rotor, wires, plugs , set timing to 10*btdc and change fuel filter if it hasnt been done in awhile.
When you replace the cap and rotor, try to get one with all brass contacts instead of the cheaper aluminum terminals, the brass is better. Dont forget your air filter and pcv valve if needed. Check out your belt for cracking and replace if needed. How long since the last cooling system check and change. This is always good to keep up on too. Automatic tranny? If it's unknown on the length of time the tranny fluid has been in there, check it too. It should be red and you should be able to see through it, no murky color, and no burnt smell. If you think it needs changed, find a place that will flush the whole system and replace the filter and pan gasket. This replaces all the fluid with a flush, instead of just whats in the pan.

i got an automatic tranny i was reading another thread on here a while ago and it said if theres over 100,000 miles on the tranny dont change the fluid whats up with that
crazed87...Never heard of that, I would get the fluid changed. You still change your engine oil after 100K? Thats what I thought. Ford recommends a change at 48,000 and then at 120,000 on the E4OD, seems they think its OK after 100K. I would rather err on the side of changing my fluids at least as often as the Manufacturer reccomends.
Asan addition, if you have the 5 spd tranny don't overlook checking the fluid. Any fluid on the bottom usually indicates the rubber plugs are leaking and you burn up the trans in shortnotice. I just finished changing the plugs and it was a piece of cake. Now I can sleep at night.

All the fluids should be changed. If the last change is a unknown, you will only make the vehicle last longer and work better! This includes the transfer case, both differentials, flush and replace the brake fluid, and the cooling system flushed and antifreeze replaced along with your transmission, both manual or Automatic should have the fluid changed.
Hey chris, changing all the vacuum lines is a great idea, it could save you some headaches down the road.
Muffler bearing, humm, dont they change that everytime I go to get my oil changed at Wally World? I'm pretty sure I saw it on their list of to do items with their premium service oil change!
