I bought a 89 bronco 4 weeks ago with a 302, AT and Mnl Xfer.
When i got it it wouldn't start when the engine is cold without some help from starting fluid sprayed in the TB. I already replaced the the fuel reg. both fuel pumps are working. the engine has lately also been giving me a problem starting even after running for a while. I have also had the engine stallwhile driving and restart itself, that or i am getting a dead miss. the bronco has an automatic transmission. The stall/dead miss started after i replaced the thermostat.
Could this be the TFI? or maybe the TPS?
PS i also already changed the cap and rotor, wires are good.
I had the same stall/restart while driving, among other things. Turned out to be the stator inside the dizzy. I replaced the whole dizzy along with the dizzy mounted ICM. Problem solved. If you can catch it when it won't start test for spark and jump the FP's. If you have spark and both pumps are working I would say that you have the same problem.
OK Replaced the entire dizzy. Still need a shot of ether to start. started right up after a a couple of rotations. Any other ideas??????
Haven't had a real chance to take a long drive to verify if the stall prob fixed yet. will do that real soon today. Any wrenches on eastern Long Island that may be able to give a hand???
