1873 351 C
I just inherited a 1973 Montego with a 351 Cleveland 2v.
In my state the car is emissions exempt. How do i go about getting the most out of the engine without going for my lungs.
Can the emissions controls be removed?
I have heard you can get an aftermarket intake and a 4bbl.
Is a head swap an option? I seen some outrageously priced aftermarket heads.
Thanx for you help

Probably the only thing your '73 would have is the dual advance vacuum system on the distributor. It is also probably routed through a device on the thermostat housing.
If it's functioning, it's not hurting anything. Given the car's age, it may have already been replaced with a single diaphragm unit.
As far as heads, the ones you already have are the best for street applications.
The 4V carb is good, as well as a better cam. The 351C has a high RPM torque curve, and can really benefit from a cam that moves the torque curve lower.
Others will chime in, I'm sure.
I was told the 73 engines were de-nutted in the name of emissions.
I just want to know how do i get the most out of my car.
