Ford wrenches

Do you think that this collector who states that m= Moore MFG Buffalo NY is correct? I have been to the Ford plant in Buffalo. Only saw cranks going by on the line. Would they have contracted these tools out to this vendor.? Would not Ford manufacture their own tools in their own plants? Sub contracting seems to be a later pratice reserved for the more modern years. I would be surprised if the unions would allow this.

Post Ford wrenches

From the date mentioned above I would venture to guess they are wrenches for the tool boxes on the Ford and Fordson tractors. This is just a guess but, I wouldn't rule it out.

hope this helps,

dj

Ford wrenches

I would agree (as a guess) about the tractors. Some of the early Ford tractors needed special wrenches. For example, the spark plugs on an 8N are not standard size, and they are recessed. There is a special wrench which fits them, and is shaped so that it goes into the well ok. The others may be customized for tractors as well.

Ford wrenches

Those are wrenches that came with the vehicles when new. When you bought a new Ford they usually came with a small set of wrenches, presumably for doing your own minor repairs. When I bought my '46 pickup I had found some old Ford script wrenches under the gas tank. I believe in the owner's manual they mention the tool kit that came with the vehicles. I would assume tractors probably came with them, but I'm 90% sure that new Ford vehicles of the 40's also came with a set of commonly needed sizes. And they were not metric, at least none of that came with the vehicles for the US market, they were standard inch sizes.

The other is about a 1" combination, w/Ford logo on front and on the back reads: -m- 01A-17017. Who can tell me what these codes mean and are these wrenches worth much in the market?

Wow I know this isn’t a new thread, but those wrenches first came out with the Model Ts. The Ford logo appeared on the wrenches with the Model T & the Ford logo was dropped with the production of the Model A. The Ford logo was used again later after 1931.
I have about 300 tools with & without the Ford logo. I make & sell Model A Ford tool display boxes

A day late and a dollar short

Yeah, I didn't realize how old the post was. I had aquired a bunch of old tools (my friend was throwing them away!) and I'm restoring them and when I googled them it brought me to that "OLD" post and I didn't even realize it was from that long ago. I'm a blonde.. I get it honest! 🤪 Anyway, on a good note I have found quite a few of those vintage Ford wrenches..at least 10 or better! So if anyone is interested just let me know. I'm in the middle of moving so my tools are in storage but I'm going to get them out take pics of what I have if you or someone you know might be interested. I've got all different kinds old craftsman, Stanley, snap on, an entire set of Chicago pipe wrenches, bench vises... It's A LOT! If anyone is interested just shoot me an email and I will work on getting them all out and photographed. Getty up!!! 🐎 angels98stang@gmail.com
