Backfiring like crazy!!!

This is Hammerhead again.1990 Ford Aerostar 3L Automatic

I replaced the plugs and checked the wires. Replaced one. The number 4 plug still has to be done but it is a monster to get at. I replaced the Distributor cap and Rotor. Added some Transmission "Gunk" to stop the pensive acceleration(possible right?). Took it out yesterday. Started and stopped about 4 times at different places. After I let it run at an idle for a bit it then ran worse. It started to backfire on acceleration and run rough at all speeds. Mostly when I was giving it gas. I got some carb injection solution with a DW40 type nossle. I thought that I maybe should clean the IAc.The butterfly at the air intake at the engine, change the fuel filter. Any help with the fuel filter replacement. It is under the driver side and it has plastic hairpin clips that came with it. Should I just jack it and get under there. Do I have to take off the INERSIA switch or is there an easier way>? I apologise for the long message. I need help. Also is there an easier way to remove the blower fan on the van. It is hard to get it out around the air conditioner. That is not working either. It is getting cold for a few days of course. Thanks in advance to all who can help me. Hammerhead.
