I have a 65 Ranchero, 289, semi stock, cast iron 302 heads, .512 lift on cam, performer 289 intake, edelbrock 600cfm (1405). When I stomp on the gas it bogs a little until I back off a little. It's not horrible, but it is noticable. The truck really moves if I dont push the pedal down all the way, but in that last 1/2" with the pedal to the floor it boggs. Is a stock edelbrock 600 jetted to rich for my application, or is it something else?
could it be that the secondaries on that model are mechanical and by opening it up from a dead stop anyway, might be opening up the secondaries and leaning your mixture out to much. try putting your accelerator pump rod on a richer setting. Ive got the same carb but its been so long since ive messed with it I cant remember all the tricks I went through to get it right. I had to change the vaccuum springs out though. that was the biggest problem on mine. and it still runs a bit rich but real strong. I would sooner think your problem is too lean. hope this helps. at any rate it will bump you and maybe someone else will have a clue. good luck
just kiddn' bar5516. Ive had a few holleys and they all leaked probably because I always wanted to mess with it. all my friends have em also and they like em. ive always liked the carters and edelbrocks personally. I always like to do what everyone else doesnt though LOL.
ok, I'm sorry this had to turn into a carter VS. Holley thing, but does any one have an actual answer for me?(Im not buying another carb, I have a calibration kit)
