Stick a thumb in number one plug hole and turn it over till it pushes it out. Then make sure the rotor bug is pointing at the correct terminal. Also double check your firing order. Hopefully it's one of those things.
Many thanks to all you guys who responded. I finally got the old beast started tonight. I did have the distributor 180 off-as a couple of you guys thought. All the tips helped-thanks much.
