Polygraphs

Well yesterday I had to go take another lifestyle polygraph for work. I HATE TAKING POLYGRAPHS... These people who administator the poly's make you out to be some kind misfit fool.

My first 2 poly's both took 4hrs each to take.

My 3rd poly only took 2hrs.

Does anyone else have to deal with taking polygraphs for work?

I think it would be so cool one day to walk into the polygraph office and about half way through the exam, just get up and walk out....

But my family and house payment doesn't allow for such games right now...

Where do you work that you have to go through that?

They need to intimidate you to raise the emotional levels.

Polygraphs only work cause you believe they do.

Are you in the U.S.
We have random drug tests here in Michigan, but I never heard of a random polygraph?Really would have me putting a lot of faith in the company knowing they dont trust me.

The 'Employee polygraph protection act" allows for testing of employees in the private sector only for specific reasons and only in certain industries. The law requires that a notice be posted outlining this law and stating the employees rights if you are asked to be tested.

The main point is randomly selecting employees is illegal, but of course, state and federal governments are exempt from this law.

You can bet that on the night before taking this test,I would go to my local taco bell and have 5 burritos with extra beans,Nobody in the room would be happy{trust me}Dont get me wrong,if something happened and the company had reason to suspect me,then I would be first in line to prove my innocence, but to be tested over and over again, just cause some guy needs to earn a paycheck?Duh,no wonder it is so hard for them to find loyal employees

I applied for a job as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and had to take a polygraph test. I knew that I had NOTHING to hide, but yet I was still very nervous. I would never want to go through it again. It is Verrrrrry "nerve racking!!"

I work as a contractor for the DOD on one of those "special" programs. Everyone who has a NSA security clearance must take a polygraph every 5 years.

The day before the poly is like a personal living hell...

Then when you take it, they tell you to look straight ahead, but don't stare, sit very still, don't cough...

Then after each test, there seems to always be a "problem" with drugs and foreign contacts.

They consistantly ask you "are you sure there's nothing you want to tell me?", "maybe something you forgot"

No matter how much you tell them that your not a "druggie" or some kind of "spy" they never seem to believe you...

Oh well, I passed again, so I'm good for another 5 years...

It almost sounds like the only way they'll get you is if you confess to something from what your saying.

That's funny! I had to get those NSA clearances in my past life and that is exactly what it was like. Once they even jumped up in the middle of it, rip off the sheet and ran out, saying "there is something really strange with what you are saying. I'm taking this printout to the boys in the lab". Then you notice there is a two-way mirror in the room, so you figure they are just watching you to see how you react. I think they just try to scare you to see how your pulse rates, etc. go.

Have to take one to get on at many of the police agencies out here in Oklahoma. Never knew you would have to for any other jobs really though.
