The test drive.

In an effort to help anyone out there who is thinking of purchasing this truck, I thought a thread listing the key things to watch out for was in order. As a prevous, now closed, thread suggested, maybe some of us (me included) did not pay enough attention to the truck as we drove it. Therefore, I think that before ANYONE takes delivery of a truck, ordered or from stock, they should make sure it does not have any of the "normal" characteristics we seem to have gripes with. The meaning of this post is NOT to say dont buy the Ford, rather, Im suggesting you buy the Ford that is working properly. So, buy the ford that does NOT:

1. Vibrate (drive on a smooth road, gradually and smoothly accelerating and decelerating as often as you can from 35-65 and back down to 35. Play around in this speed area. If the truck does not vibe... ...thats a good sign.

2. Have binding rear door locks. If the lock wont pop open after a passenger pulls the inside door handle be warned that Ford calls this "normal" for now.

3. Have rear-end slippage. Ive heard that driving in tight circles stop and go will help find this. No problem yet? You really have a Wednesday truck!

Im sure there are more tips out there, so others please add your .02. I have to say that overall this is a nice truck, but for 35-40K, I whish I would have gotten one that is more "normal" than my.. ..er...Normal? truck. My fault though.. ...I did not check for the above ailments.

Good luck.
