Wastegate??

I'm new to the PSD, work with tractors, but not real familiar with the stroker. I'm not sure if there is a wastegate on the turbo or not, but when it's cold out and it's idling to warm up and even when I'm driving, it acts like the wastegate keeps kicking in and out, it'll keep pulsing until the engine gets good and warm. I don't know if there is something malfunctioning or if there is fix for it? Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks.

Welcome to FTE, yes you do have a wastegate, what you describe sounds like your exhaust back pressure valve functioning, this is normal. Designed to help warm up the engine when cold. This can be disabled with slight modification.

That's exactly what I was thinking it was, wasn't for sure. But is it suppose to pulse? Sometimes it will kick in and stay that way, but the majority it's opening and closing, and it's just really annoying when I'm trying to drive down the road and I keep losing power and getting it back.

Try and leave it idle a little before takeoff,or drive slow and steady for a few miles.I agree it can be annoying sometimes.

I haven't notice our's pulse- but we let them warm up before running over 1500 RPMs. They are easy to disable- but considering you live in Iowa, you might consider leaving it hooked up.
