Steering Wheel

Hey all. I might have seen the answer to this question on the 73-79 Ford Truck forum, but wanted to be sure. Will a 73-79 Ford steering wheel fit in a 1980-86 Ford Truck? I think they're all the same from those years. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it does. Actually, now that I think about it, it will for sure work. Why do you ask?

I ask because at the moment I have an aftermarket Grant 3 spoke chrome steering wheel installed in my truck and I want to go back to the original steering wheel. The newer steering wheel I have is a smaller 13" (2 inches smaller than the original wheel) and I have a hard time seeing my speed and tachometer and my other gauges because my steering wheel is in the way of view.

What I didn't realize is all the different types of original steering wheels they had available for 78-86 Fords. Ford Broncos from those years had luxury steering wheels with soft grip and built-in woodgrain on the horn pad. I'd love to have one of those in my truck to match the woodgrain dash bezels I'm trying to get for it.

I will be posting pictures of my truck here on Saturday evening. I won't have the woodgrain bezels on the interior yet, but you will be able to see what I do have as of right now.

that wood grain pad you are talking about comes off with 2 phillps screws ont he back of the wheel the econoline vans from that year wheels will work to mine had the stock junk thin one i put one of those wheel cover pads on it was still to wierd feeling for me i was in the junk yard and had been snooping around a ford econoline van one of those conversion type ones with a bunch of windows and seats and it had a thick stock wheel on it with the little rough pattern type stuff that you will find on your stokc wheel all the way around on it was already pulled off so it saved me from pulling it was much better feeling so i went home got my wheels straigh and put it on a lot more comfortable well worth it mine has cruise control to and the wheel was all set up for that already had the little connections so you may want to look into that if you want a diffrent wheel as far as that wood grain pad gose i have one but it has the cruise conrol buttons on it yours may not have cruse so it may do you no good but i have it if your intrested

I don't have cruise control. I need a horn pad with woodgrain that just has the horn buttons and that's it. thanks for the info though.
