Really only happens when climbing a hill at highway speed. As load increases, truck approaches the point at which it should shift from O/D to 3rd (AOD). Instead of downshifting, the truck "shutters" badly. If I pedal hard, itll downshift and run/accelerate fine, but as soon as it shifts into O/D the shuttering begins again. When level or decline, the shuttering stops. During shuttering, the RPMs don't seem to change, and I don't really think its the engine, but I'm not 100% sure. Any thoughts?
Thanks people.
Also, besides decreasing timing, what can I do to be able to run 87 octane gas? 89 'Pings' too often at 11deg. BTDC and other settings (10, 12, 14.5), to even think about trying 87. Im not paying for 93 octane for only 15MPG.
Make sure your wires are new or in good shape. The 302 will shake and shudder under any load if the wires allow crossfire between #7 and #8 cylinders, they fire in sequence. Happened to me.
