Identification problems

I just pulled an FE motor out of my '74 F-250 4x4. It will be going into my '76 F-150. The motor has about 10,000 miles on it and it is almost totally covered in oil. Well, the previous owner bought a rebuilt shortblock from the store and installed it. As you can guess, he did a pathetic job assembling everything. Now to my problem, becouse this is a store bought rebuild, I thought I better check to see what it really is. I'm not sure what I have, the rods are 428 rods and the crank is a 360 crank, how can it have a short crank with short rods??? I can't find anything on the block of any importance other than it was cast may 19, 1969. Any ideas??? C6AE rods and 2TA crank.

Did it have Flat tops or anything in it for pistons? I would think that the short rod and crank together would make the compression alot lower.

I wasn't planning on pulling the heads, I suppose i should though, to see what the deck height is. I'm guessing it should have early-mid '70's dished pistons in it.

I pulled the heads. I have flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs. The pistons are .120" from the deck at TDC, is this normal on the FE motor??? With those pistons and D2TE head, what would the guesstimated CR be?? Thanks. BTW it does have the 3.500" stroke. 3.624 at the bottom of the stroke.

the .120 from the deck is normal, the 3.5 stroke is a 352/360 stroke, what is the bore, the compression ratio is prolly around 8.5/1, but thats just a guess. good luck
