Sorry I was typing fast and in a rush I'll start over.
One of my customers used them in his Expedition and they got hot enough to melt the wires and the lens housing slightly. i believe there is a conversion kit to install but I am not sure.
I wouldn't think the additional 6.6 amps (for both) being pulled by the bulbs on high would have any effect on the wiring however, I have been reluctant to use a higher wattage bulb for fear of melting my light housing.

Not in my f-350, no. I did put a set of 100W hi beam halogens into a pair of caprice headlamps (which I use as work lights in the garage) and after several hours of being lit, the housings got really soft and started to warp.
I attributed this to the high brightness bulbs, but also the fact that the caprice lamps weren't mounted on a car, thus getting airflow. They were mounted on a pole in the corner of the garage.
