I have a '99 f350 PSD, with a 6spd manual....After a long hard run on the freeway, (2-3 hours at 70-75mph) my shifter gets really cranky and wont drop into gear without some work. It'll go, but not smooth like when it is cool. I am assuming the tranny is hot, but has anybody used synthetic tranny oil? Seems like it would be an easy fix vs. another cooler....
I'm not sure if Ford continued this with the newer Super Duties, but my 1996 5 speed manual came from the factory with synthetic fluid in it. Check in your owner's manual fluid refill specifications and it will tell you what's in there - it is probably already synthetic.
