Was your problem with the seals constantly leaking? Did replacing the seals never get the job done? Just wondering. I know this is off topic of this post, but I am also wondering if Ford did anything for the faulty gaskets?
I split your question off and created a new thread. There are numerous posts here regarding the leaking gasket issues.
Try using the "Search" feature and you should have ample reading material.
Here's one for starters. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=104350
What exactly was wrong with the '97-'98 F-150's? I imagine the gaskets couldn't be sealed correctly? And why was that? Were the heads leaking oil bad all the time or just seeping oil? What did Ford ultimately do about that problem? I know these questions are off topic of this post. But I have never gotten a straight answer. Just wonder'n.
Once again, I split your post from the original thread and merged it with this thread.
Please keep questions about the gasket issues inside this, or other leaking gasket threads.
The Sticky thread on "The good" is for posting positive experiences with the F150 and 4.2 engine.
Thanks much!
Ok, don't know if anyone's answered you yet, but you are asking about the leaking gasket problem with the 97-98 4.2's? The problem is that the lower intake gaskets wouldn't seal permanently, and eventually you would leak coolant into your engine...the the knocking starts...then bye -bye motor.
