One suggestion to the problem was fuel regulator. My questions here are where is the regulator located on my truck (see info below), and what is the function of the regulator? Are they difficult and expensive to replace? Maybe the main question should be is whether anyone with knowledge in this area thinks the fuel regulator will solve the problem. Thanks.
It is located in the fuel rail near the rear of the engine. It is round and has a vacuum line going to it.
Remove the vacuum line and make sure that no fuel is present.
Use a fuel pressure gauge to check function.
Pressure should go up while idling and you remove the vacuum line.
