newbie question

hey all , new dude has a question, how do you tell what gears you have in a f 150 ?the door sticker says D . Is there a way to tell without crawing under the truck ?

look at your owners manual, it will have a section in there that will have a code for what type of rear end you have, if its an older f-150 u either have 3.55, or 3.08, but look in your manual there is a chart in there, if need anymore help feel free to ask, welcome to FTE!

If you don't have the manual, you can look on the VIN/weight sticker on the driver's door or door frame. There should be an axle code there that you can look up in the 'tech articles' section of this website under 'axle decoder'. If there is no axle code visible, you may be able to look it up via the VIN number, using the VIN number decoder in the tech articles section. If all else fails, you can look for a tag on the differential cover.
