Bad Rep

I was fillling my truck up at the pumps tonight and on the other side there was a guy with an older 7.3 stroker. The first thing out of his mouth was so how many problems have you had with the truck so far? I told him that still to this day the truck is running great and I have had no problems. This is the third time or so that this was asked. This really sucks!

Is not great, that in America we can have so many varied and different views about products and life.

Drive and enjoy, when he pulls up next to you........leave him!

Let the power speak for you.

On the other hand

Doesnt anyone find it disturbing that there are enough Problematics 6.0s out there to gather national attention, record buybacks and discussion at the pump such as "how many problems have you had?"

NO if you are the one that had a problem, then yes if you have had problems. How many have been sold vs. how many have problems. We do not have those numbers; Ford would not like that, if we did. This site usually has people that have "some" problems few come here to brag about how great their truck. And yes I would like to have national attention………..but
You say "record buy-backs" you have numbers for this. we need this type of informatioin.

Well

Numbers from a month ago, exceeded the 500 mark on buy backs.
(info on this site)..But what you have to wonder, is how many people are still driving thier truck TRYING to get it fixed, or How many just gave up and traded for a different brand. Or how many Just say , I only drive it 3 times a month anyway so its not a big deal. The point is, that After you buy this truck it gets reflashed, and reflashed, and reflashed. Is it Still the same truck you Bought?
Is the HP and Torque Rating the same? is it the "quite diesel" Ford advertises. Etc...

Ford makes an Outstanding Truck, and I think the 6.0 is an Awesome Motor. It just seems to suffer from Quality control issues. I know they will eventually all be reliable and you wont have to worry "That you get a good one" As I said before, they SHOULD ALL BE GOOD!
I want one sooooo Bad, I just cant chance it at this moment , So Im either wanting to look for an 02-03 7.3 Excursion, or wait another year and get an 05 6.0

I absolutely agree they should be ALL GOOD, however they are not...........bummer.
How many 6.0's have been sold total, I cannot find that number anywhere?
I am with you on this issue; it is not fare at all. I drive one and believe me I worry, do not like ht either.

Good Question

Im not sure how many have been sold, Its hard to narrow that down as 2003 model year offered both 7.3 and 6.0 for a while, so by saying 2003 diesel, its not specifying just the 6.0.

I have Faith In them, and I know eventually it will all get worked out.

I see you drive a V-10. "You need to walk the walk before you talk the talk" to coin a corny movie line. You need to join the brotherhood of 6.0 before you can complain I think. As for mine, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Oh I forgot "A Powerstroke stops a Heartbeat".
I agree with you 9 lives. I've yet to meet a man with a 6.0 that didn't like it. All the unhappy ones seem to be on the internet.

My only worry is that when I am ready to buy a new one and the sales guy or used car manager making the deal says, the 2003 was a bad year for that model we can only give you this 15k verses the 25k what the other brands are getting. The story to all this is that I dont want to loose my a-- on this truck.i buy a new every three years or so.I have bad feeling that this will have to be a keeper for awhile...

Well thats what is keeping from Buying a 6.0.. Im afraid i'll be "walking the walk" KEY WORD IS WALK!!!

If you have read any Previous posts of mine I have also stated that my stepfather is the service manager for a Ford Delaership in WV, he has been there over 30 years..His words were along the line that this Motor has caused him more grief than any other ford product multiplied by 3. I respect his word.
No, they are not all nothing but problems, sure there are MANY who will never have a Problem with them at all..
But I know My Luck, and I would be one who got stuck with poor fuel economy, dead pedal, leaking seals, diesel in the oil, low power and stinky cabs. Thats how the ball rolls for me..L

BUt , Tim is Right, Ill come around eventually!!
The 7.3 turned into one heck of a motor, pwerful and reliable, and I know that the 6.0 will eventually follow suit.

I wonder what your stepfather has to say about the 04 f150. I bought this diesel instead of one because I always wanted a diesel.

You've made the ultimate point, regarding the 6.0L truck. Buying it, simply results in a rather high probability that the above statement will come through....

Also, Ron, thank you for your additional point, from your stepfather....
