Am having a problem with my 2000 SD door panels. It seems that the interior plastic panels flex and rub against the metal of the doors when on rough roads. This action is resulting in what sounds like rattling. I have found that when I put pressure on the panels, primarily in the area nearest the edge of the side which opens, the sound subsides. Has anyone out there experienced this problem and if so have you or the dealer come up with a fix.
i have a 99' f-250 crew cab..... i have been having the same probolem with the rattle in the drivers side door. i was thinking that a quick fix would just to get new fasteners to tighten the gap between the door and the panel up but i havent got around to doing it. i know that u can order the fasteners from the ford dealer but you can fund an assortment of diffrent fasteners at your local auto parts place.
Hmm, that may be a tough problem to fix. There is no clips holding the door panel on. There are only two screws and then you just lift the door panel up and off. Since you say it's coming from the bottom rear of the panel, you might want to take the reflector lens off and try to tighten the screw there.
About those noisy door panels, i've had a few vehicles that have done that, in the past I would just spray a little Armor All on or just behind the panels and that would solve the scweaking for a month or two till tha stuff wore off. You might try that as a quick fix as every time I've taken door panels and such off it tends to break 1 or more of those little tabs off. Then you have less holding it on then you did before. Just my .02 worth, good luck. 2K1 F-250 SD EC SB 4x4 5.4 V8 Dark Blue
No need to worry about breaking any tabs, clips or anything off. As long as you take it off the right way, you could take it off a thousand without breaking anything. It's really a pretty nifty design and you could have it off in like 15 seconds if you hurry. I'm not sure how well double sided tape would work because when you put the panel back on, you have to push it on and then slide it down. The tape may stop you from pushing it down all the way.
I just bought a 2001 F350 Crew Cab. At about 1500 miles, I started hearing this creaking sound above the drivers side door. Rough roads don't cause this (yet) but it's when the truck frame is torgued a certain way. If I go into a parking lot that has a dip, I will always hear it. I can reproduce a similar sound when stopped by pressing on the molding. This is only on the drivers side. This may be coincidence but it started about the same time I had the front windows tinted. I thought maybe it was overspray from window cleaner or something so I thought I'd give it a couple weeks to work itself out. So far it hasn't and it's driving me crazy...
My 96 F150 Super Cab does the squeak thing too. I Complained to the dealer and got them to try the two sided tape approach. No luck. I have debated about using the liquid plastic that you use to coat a tool handle but I must admit the Armor all and Sun Of gun sprayed in the seem sounds like a good idea.
I have both noises described in my 2001 f350. The squaking when you drive over something off camber is caused by the twisting of the body against the doors.. its the weather stripping. To fix that I used black magic tire wet and put a thin coat on the stripping. The doorpanels rattling.. I put a thin bead of claer silicon all the way around and also in the door pockets where they meet the panel. Worked like a charm. The silicon wont last forever but its lasted 12000 miles so far. Good luck D
I have a 2000 F250 V-10 Super Cab and it has always had the squeaking noise. My caring and compassionate dealer said I should slam the doors harder!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I found that silicone spray on the door gaskets does the trick. It last a couple of weeks, by then it's time to wash the truck again, and I spray more silicone on the gaskets.
