what transfer case

I have a 80 f250 4x4 c-6 auto. Can you tell me what transfer case I have, It's a light duty model I beleve . All of the door tags have been painted over so I cant get any numbers of them. I'm going to try and rebuild it. Thanks Dave

The easiest thing you can try is to crawl under the truck and see if you can see the tag on the tranfer case. A New Process case will have a silver round tag with more than likely, red numbering. Also check if the case is aluminum or cast iron. Looking at your year you are in kind of a grey zone. They could have been using NP205's or NP208's. I am not really sure when one stopped and the other began. I don't think they were using Borg Warner T-cases then.

If you can rebuild a C6 you should surely be able to rebuild your NP 208. The only thing to know really is that the unit is a chain driven one, which most to all are that come in trucks. Which brings be to wonder. Doesn't the new Jeep Rubicon run an Atlas transfer case? Hmmm.
