I've got a 78 lincoln with a 460 and a c6 transmission, both in good condition i paid $300 for the whole car, and i want a 351w i found a guy who wants to trade me a parts truck for the car. the truck has everything but the trans..and rearend and interior. the truck has a 351w in it he is a honest guy he said that the motor was in good shape as far as it doesnt knock or smoke, the truck is a 83 2x4 he says it has a computer in it but its not fuel injected can anyone explain to me what that is all about...it has a smog pump and it looked like a aluminum intake.. will this motor work in my truck without the computer?..i have a 1984 4x4 ...Any info would be appreciated thank you!

I'd want to make sure the 351 is a HO motor, if you want an HO, I would. Sounds like a nice lincoln with a 460 would be worth more than an old truck that isn't drivable with a 351w. But if it's what you want, that's what's important.
yes, the 351 could be set up without the computer easily. May need a different distributor/ignition setup (no big deal) and maybe a regular non emissions carb.

If it has the factory air breather, the lid will have an "H.O." label. If you know it's the original motor, check the VIN#. The 8th character will be an "H". THe hard way would be to get any numbers off of the block.
I've been looking for an old Lincoln so I could swap the 460 and C6 in my 88 body and frame. If I found the whole car for $300, I would grab it in a heartbeat!
