Yeah, I definitely second that. The best thing you can do is regularly vacuum the carpet. Keep the dirt out that way, and you'll have to clean/ shampoo less often. The less chemicals/soap/water you put on your rugs, the better.

Look for a good dry chemical to use, sprinkle on and vacuum up. This is the latest product being used by carpet cleaners for your home. Using a shampoo machine does work, however if you use to much material, dirt now will be attracted to it like a magnet and you will have carpets that are dirtier than before. Also like others stated if you dont extract the water properly it will leave you with saturated and moldy carpets.
