I would watch ebay. I bought a complete 460 with accessories for under $350.00 ........The killer is the shipping, mine was just 40 miles away so it worked out well for me.
Your best bet would be to find a complete truck with the 460. For $450 bucks you should be able to get a running parts truck. This way you will have all the mounts and accessories you will need to do the transplant.
if you were closer to me brotherman i could hook you up. when i was thinking about doing the 351m to 460 swap in my 78 f-150 i searched around and found one here at a local boneyard at a hell of a price. iam kind of still thinking about buying it just to say i have one. its out of a 72 lincoln complete motor that the owner still believes ran when it came in for 125.00...yea thats right 125.00 for a complete 460. if your interested i email me and i could verifie if the motor is still avaliable..the last time i checked it was
Check the Lincolns. I got mine out of a 78 Lincoln, $125 complete. They seem to be a little harder to find in trucks. One thing though, if you pull an engine from a car you're going to want to find truck brackets for the pump and all that good stuff. Brackets out of an Econoline fit perfect.
Otherwise, IMO, $450 is not too shabby for a complete running 460.
