My 4x4 has 16" rims and I would like to eventually replace them with 18" rims and tires. Would I be able to reprogram the computer for speedometer, odometer and shift point changes so the truck operates normally? How would I do this?
I would be using as close to the same profile tire on the 18" as I am currently using on the 16" - P235/70R. Is there an inexpensive programmer available to reprogram the computer and a reference for the adjusted parameters? That is the primary question for which I seek an answer.
The rim size makes no difference. You could put on 24" rims as long as the tires are the same overall diameter as the original ones and it won't affect the speedo. That being said, yes there are programmers available that will let you adjust the speedo for different size tires. I have no idea what the prices are, or what one person would consider inexpensive compared to someone else.
