I own a 1989 E150 302 V8 and when I start the engine in the morning it takes about 10 sec to obtain fast idle afterwards its ok it runs like pretty good idle is smooth acceleration good it does that only when cold or first start of the day what is the problem?

Welcome to FTE!
What about tuneup type stuff, like plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel and air filters, PCV valve? Might also need to clean the idle air control(IAC). How many miles are on it? Just curious. About 169K on my 89.

That could be it, or maybe dirty injectors? If the wires are real old, it might be worthwhile to replace them.
You might also want to post on the 302 or fuel injection forum, they get quite a bit more traffic than this one. You'd probably get more ideas. This van forum is new and doesn't get all that much attention yet. Good luck!
