battery/alternator issue

The battery light being on indicates that one or more of the diodes in the rectifier bridge went south.
Change the alternator and the plug.
Just rebuilt mine for $38.00. The diodes burned out so I replaced the Voltage Regulator and H.D. Rectifier. The Generator shop even threw in heat sink grease (Must have for electronics now adays.) Brushes were fine. Took about an hour total time, not including the 20 minutes I spent going to and from the shop.
Puts out 87AMPS.

No, he did not replace the plug. The alternator is DEAD today and its two weeks old. Not sure if its rebuilt but he is on his way to Advanced Auto with it in hand and a frown on his face. I just paged him to tell him about the plug. He just called me back and said there was a piece of paper with the new alternator that talked about the plug but of course he never read it when he replaced the alternator..well DUH! He wants to know if the plug is hard to get off? He is not bad with fixing cars but this is a new one for him. He has enough grief getting the serpentine off. His truck is his livelyhood as a carpenter so this is distressing.
Tried to email this to you but I have not been a member long enough...rats

Got your email and thanks so much. Replied to you that he now has another new alternator (free) and the leads/plugs and hopefully all is well as I have not heard from him in a while. I love these web forums. People are so willing to help each other.
