I have just purchased what i think is a 46 ford pickup in boxes .
It came with 2 restorable cabs , a rebuilt 302 for it , and a restored rolling chassie and a lot of boxes of stuff .(I think it was a good buy for $500.00) Now to my questions
how do i identify year and model ? will a 41 ford truck front end fit on cab ? and where is a good sorce for floor board patch pannels
If you think it is a '46, and the frame is original, then the VIN number will be stamped on the frame, driver's side, on top, near the steering box. The number should start with a star, then 699C or 1GC, if it is a 1/2 ton truck. 1/2 ton is 114" wheelbase, 1 ton is 122". The '41 front clip will fit onto the cab, since it is basically the same cab, save for a couple of minor changes. For patch panels, check out Northern Classic Trucks For more VIN info and ID'ing check out 1942-1947 Ford Trucks
And welcome to the boards...best place for Ford truck info and help. Yes, $500 was a very good deal for everything...good luck.

$500 is and great price, especialy here where a used 302 costs around that much. Also, I beleive that the '40-'41 1/2 ton front ends were just aobut the same as the passenger cars, so a '40 deluxe front end may fit on just as well. Good luck!
