the bearing at the bottom end of the column appears to be held in place with a friction fit bushing made of some type of nylon or plastic. what do you do when the bushing is wore out and needs replacing? anyone know where to find a new one? anyone have any idea what i could do to get it right?
THANKS in advance, thinking outloud is apprediated.
You have to find a scrap yard that carries that stuff. I got lucky and there were two yards right down the street from each other that deal with steering parts. You'll have to call around in your neck of the woods to find one.
As far as getting it out, you just have to pull real hard with a big screwdriver or tire iron. Just becarful to not bend the rod. If it is worn, it should pop right out with little effort. The new one will be a bear to get out if You need to fix something.
