noisy lifters

Very noisy when I first start 'er up on a cold day, but then goes away after a while (5 miles?). Anything I can do?

You might try flushing the engine with "Sea Foam" and changing the oil. Sounds like the lifters are collapsing. How cold are you talking about? What oil are you using?

I'm using 10/40. And by cold I mean I start the motor after it's been sitting for atleast 2 hrs., but it quits (or rather is not NEAR as noticable) once it warms up.

Sea Foam you say? hmm... a little weary of the mirical can stuff. What do you guys think?
