Question universal joints

Lately there has been a slight humming noise coming from the rear of my bronco. Also, when shifting it hits sort of hard into gear. I was wondering if this might be related to bad rear universal joints. I am planning on replacing the diff fluid this weekend also. Any help/suggestions is welcome. Thanks.

Could be u-joints. Also could be the slip joint in the rear shaft. Need to remove the boot, seperate the 2 peices, making note of how they came part, lube the splines and the receiving end, reassemble the same way it came apart. Also could be the pinion nut on the rear diff. That would be my 1st guess honestly. I had the same probs and fixed it by tightening the pinion nut.

Where is the pinion nut? Or even better do you remember the size of it? Also, Im assuming that it is located inside of the diff. Also. how do I replace the boot connections at each end after lubing the rear shaft. Thanks
